If you think back to lesson 10, on family, you will remember that I mentioned how important family is to hispanic cultures. The following few sentences will help you develop your ability to speak Spanish:

¿Estas casado? / Are you married?

Si, estoy casado. ¿Y tu, estas casado? / Yes I am. Are you married?

No. Estoy soltero. Pues, estoy separado / No, I'm single. Actually, I'm separated.

Hace mucho tiempo, estaba divorciado / I was divorced a long time ago.

¿Cuanto tiempo has estado casado? / How long have you been married for?

He estado casado por diez anos. / I've been married for 10 years.
