Welcome to the phrase building section of the Jiffy Spanish lessons. You have gone through the first few lessons, which were designed to give you a brief overview of the language. It's now time to kick things up a gear. From now on, you're going to be learning important sentences. This is important because learning single words along is not the best way to learn any language. So let's begin!
Obviously, if you are travelling in a Spanish speaking country, you are going to want to be able to learn how to talk about money and shopping.
Imagine you've just arrived in the country of your choice. You're loaded up with $US, but have none of the local currency. You're going to want to know:
¿Cuánto cuesta esto? / What's the exchange rate?
Me gustaría cambiar dinero / I'd like to change money
Another scenario is that you arrive in the country without any cash and you need to access some right away. In which case:
¿Dónde está el cajero automático más cercano? / Where's the nearest ATM?
¿Puedo usar mi tarjeta de crédito para sacar dinero? / Can I use my credit card to withdraw money?
Shopping is always on peoples to do lists, so the following phrases will help make your shopping experience easier.
¿Cuánto cuesta esto? / How much is this?
Cuesta demasiado / It is too expensive
¿Aceptan tarjetas de crédito? / Do you take credit cards?
¿Podría darme un recibo por favor? / Could I please have a receipt?
Sólo estoy mirando / I'm just looking
¿Tiene algo más barato? / Do you have anything cheaper?
